How to Easily Start Design a New Theme?

For this two last days I a little bit reduce my activity about managing this blog. There is one more thing I should do to overcome my uncomfortable feeling of using free themes that I wrote here. I’ve been working to design a new theme for this blog since the last two day. It have been a good effort for me, to make me get more experiences and knowledge about designing a new theme.

Designing a new theme, or whatever else like just a site interface is a pretty interesting stuff. There are so many possibility we can make and try to gain the best result. But, before we start to make a new theme or a new design, there are some things we must have before. The knowledge of CSS and HTML is a must, besides knowledge about color schemes, good looking design, SEO to apply the design with and some more principle.

And the point to make us start designing easily is by make a decision at first, about how the final design will looks like, the features we want and function should be present in some condition. Like how many sidebar we will make, is it supported for social bookmarking and having some links to control a post in a  single archive post. It was a simple way, because O’Reilly wrote more steps that spend more thinks and time.

What I’ve done is just make a new style sheet  starting part-by-part and directly followed by a single html file to see how the style will be applied. This way is easy, we control the design at first before coding the php. Make us easy to make a change to the look, and also preparing all images we need by creating one image when we found an image is necessary. Seeing a little part of the design, according to my own feeling also good, making me always having a spirit to develop it.
