Why Should I Pay a Self-Hosted Blog?
Yes, I have a new site right now. Even this is actually not my first self-hosted blog. But I feel more excited at this one. Because this one the newest maybe, as usual new things in our life always get more attention than the old one. But maybe it was not fully true too for me, this is not only my other self-hosted site, but site that I start to build it with spirit, spirit to strangling for a better day. To learn more about SEO, internet marketing and monetizing my site.
Bye the way, don’t you ever think like me too at first, why should I must host my site and pay for it if there still so many service available for free in the web? As we know that using free blog service like blogger and wordpress is still a good idea for getting income from internet marketing. Blogger also a powerful blogging platform in the world that having ability to be customized as far as we want. We can add everything at the sidebar or anywhere else we want in our blogger site. Because blogger is very customizable from it’s edit html menu. All the things we want to sell is possible to be placed at our page. Because we hold the looks of our site tight. The almost same is wordpress which having a very search engine friendly permalink structure, and great support.
OK, it was the basic maybe, that hosted or not is the same. But lets look deeper, a simple case, when you using wordpress and still having .wordpress at the end of your blog, can you add some meta tag at the beginning of your page, before <body>-html tag? I believe you can’t. And if you using blogger, can you guarantee that the structure of your page has a valid coding that helps search engine crawl your site better? It just some small difference there still much more benefit of getting your site at your own hosting service like :
1. You own whole your site
By having self hosted site you can control all aspects of your site. You can manage all of them since software you use, managing the files. You are truly the owner, it was the mean, you can do all the things like what you want, whatever. No one can interfere you like when you use free service.
2. Better for SEO
Like in the first point that we can manage files and software we use to build our site. By using wordpress at your own hosting service, like what I’ve done you can get more possibilities to get more traffic as the key of having better business. We can use some plugin to make our reader get easier to subscribe to some bookmarking site like stumbleUpon and digg and also easy to commenting and getting answer from the thing they ask to us.
3. Better for affiliate programs.
When you follow an affiliate programs, may be it will become very hard part to make your partner approve your free blog. Because they also know that traffic management and your ability to modify the look so that you can offer their product like their requirements is very limited. They will never approve your blog as long as there still a self-hosted waiting for their approval.
4. More secure.
May be it was to far if we have a dream to turn our free blog into an e-commerce site. But I just want to inform you that using self hosting give us more option like using dedicated IP address which needed when you owning a Private SSL Certificate. Secure e-commerce websites need SSL certificates for accepting credit cards online.
Yes, thats a little thins I know about the benefit of using self-hosted site. If you choose to take it too wait for my next post.
